Amazing Stars

When I saw the October Product of the Month, I knew I'd be pacing an order the day they were available. I LOVE stars. Always have. I have many retired star products from the past and will probably buy whatever comes out in the future. They are so fun and versatile. They work really well for masculine cards, cards for teenagers, Halloween, Christmas, New Year, graduation and so much more. They can pretty well be used for any happy occasion (in my opinion) depending on the vibe your going for.

I will warn you, I really think these are going to sell out before the month is out this time. Dies are always popular and a set of 23 for $5 is a steal of a deal. You just need to have a qualifying order total of $75 (after all coupons and discounts have been applied) before you can add them to your purchase. Don't wait if you need these!

Grateful Leaves

I might be in love with the Rustic Check 3D Embossing Folder. Look at that dimension! And I think it's so perfect for fall cards. Such a fun one!

I started the cards I'm going to be sharing this week by smooshing a watercolor background on a 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" piece of vanilla cardstock. I took my Golden Glow, Pretty Peacock and Blackberry ink pads and tapped them onto the huge "F" acrylic block. Then I sprayed the block with water and tipped the block to let the colors mix a little. Not a lot. I didn't want the colors to become mud. Then, I took a piece of 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" Very Vanilla Cardstock and layed it over the ink and let it soak it up. I am impatient, so I used a heat tool to dry it.

After the watercolor cardstock was dry, I used the Lustrous Leaves Hot Foil Dies, Copper Stampin' Foil and the Stampin' Hot Foil System to make copper watercolor leaves. I was then left with a piece of copper foil that had leaf images in it, so I applied that to a piece of vanilla cardstock with the Reverse Foil Die so that I could have both the positive and the negative copper leaf images and not waste the beautiful foil.

Cardstock:
Golden Glow: 8-1/2" X 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" and folded in half on the long side
Golden Glow Two-Tone: 4" X 5-1/4" (If you don't want 12 sheets of Golden Glow, you could also get the Heirloom Boutique 12" X 12" Two-Tone Cardstock)

Autumn Thinking of You

I love how well my watercolor and foiled leaves from the Lustrous Leaves Dies go with the Autumn Opulence DSP. A match made in crafty heaven!

For this card, I cut a 3-7/8" X 5-1/8" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and embossed the bottom right corner with the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder for the card front. I cut another piece of Very Vanilla the same size for the inside of the card. I mounted each of these pieces to a 4" X 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.

Then, I cut a 4" X 4" piece of the floral pattern and cut it in half diagonally. I used one half on the front of the card and cut the other half down a little and added it to the inside of the card. I added two strips of coordinating DSP to the front as a decorative border and one to the inside.

After that, the fun part started. I stamped and die cut my sentiment, made a pleasing arrangement of pretty fall leaves and adhered all this as shown on the card front. Then I tied a nice bow with some embroidery floss and used a glue dot to add it to my arrangement Finally, I embellished with some pretty copper gems.

Cardstock:
Blackberry Bliss: 8-1/2" X 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" and folded in half on the long side
Crumb Cake: 2 pcs 4" X 5-1/4"
Very Vanilla: 2 pcs 3-7/8" X 5-1/8", 4" X 5-1/4" (for watercoloring the leaves), whatever you need for your sentiment
DSP:
Autumn Opulence: floral pattern 4" X 4" cut in half diagonally, 2 strips blackberry pattern 3/8" X 5-1/2", 1 strip espresso pattern 1/4" X 5-1/2" (trim border strips as needed once adhered)

Lustrous Thanksgiving

I used the smaller leaf dies that come in the Lustrous Leaves Bundle to die cut the leftover pieces on the edges of the watercolor and foiled vanilla cardstock pieces from above.

For this card, I arranged a bunch of the smaller leaves and one larger one in a diagonal pattern onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and glued them all down. Next I ran it through the Rustic Check 3D embossing folder. I really wanted dark brown trim, so I used some DMC embroidery floss. Then I finished it all off with the copper color gems.

Cardstock:
Golden Glow: 8-1/2" X 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" and folded in half on the long side
Blackberry Bliss: 2 pcs 4" X 5-1/4"
Very Vanilla: 2 pcs 3-3/4" X 5", 4" X 5-1/4" (for watercoloring the leaves), a scrap for stamping your sentiment
