I have not scrapbooked in a long time. At least a couple months. And before that single page I made a few months ago, it had been a very long time. Not sure why. I still watch YouTube vids of my favorite creators all the time. I still buy all the things (I do try to curb that quite a bit. I am well aware that my stash is plenty enough already.). I still look on Pinterest and Pin the inspo. I just had no motivation to actually do it.
Today I was feeling overwhelmed by all of the social media about COVID-19. I just can't look at it or watch it OR talk about it anymore right now. I'm stressed out. We don't have enough food to get through two weeks. We have no money to go and buy food until payday. And, even if we did, there is nothing to buy. People are crazy. It's all gone. Ok. I'm not talking about it. I'm done.
So, needing to get out of my head and off of social media, I took to my crafty supplies and some comedian vids on YouTube. I went in with the plan of making some base pages or just putting some papers together for page kits. Once I started going through my scraps, I got inspired. I had some papers that I loved and just wanted to see a finished page. So I slapped down my papers (all scraps except the background) and grabbed a photo that I already had printed. OMG. I found my hobby again guys! It felt so good. I made a page that I love. I got my hands in some of my paper. The angels sang. It was magical! Lol.
I'm not going to list what papers or supplies these are because I really don't have the foggiest clue. I have had them forever. Except the background diagonal, which I LOVE. I just picked that up. It is Jen Hadfield Chasing Adventures from American Crafts (2018).
Use your stash. Find some of your old supplies that you still love, mix them with new ones. Have some fun. Get out of your head.
On another note, I think I have just organized my paper in a way that is not right for me. I just reorganized them from by color to by print (like florals, stripes, dots, etc.) a few weeks ago. The error in this system became apparent when I went to look for paper today for page kits and had to go through every section to find papers. I thought I would want to find a stripe or a floral or plaid, etc. Wrong! I just want to find paper that looks good together and have similar colors. But organizing by color wasn't working for me either because when something has multi colors, then I don't know what to stick it in. And I also want to store things that are from the same collection together (which I do have a separate category for). This makes me think I should just stick to buying coordinating kits. But I like the idea of making my own kits. Hmm....maybe I should buy in groups of things that I like together, but not necessarily from the same manufacturer. And then store them together? IDK. How do I sort my paper that I currently have? Do I just make a bunch of page kits. I feel a Nicole Jones binge coming on......
Well, that's really all I have in me for today. Hope you found something to inspire you and get you out of your head and crafting today as well.
